Pismo Beach with Kids

This year’s spring break called for a road trip to a hidden gem known as Pismo Beach. Pismo Beach is a classic California beach town located on the spectacular central coast. The central coast roughly spans the region northwest of Los Angeles and south of San Francisco. This area is not densely populated like LA and San Francisco, letting mother nature reign supreme. Picture a dramatic rocky coastline with long white beaches, on one side and on the opposite side, vast rolling lush hills and vineyards. The juxtaposition of the two landscapes is absolutely breathtaking.

We wanted to stay somewhere where we could welcome the natural beauty, of Pismo Beach and most importantly we wanted a family friendly hotel. Preferably one that offered suites because sharing a single hotel room with little ones is just not a vacation. Going to bed at 7pm with my children is not my idea of a good time. After all, bedtime is when the party for us parents begins!

Where to stay?

We decided to stay at the Pismo Lighthouse Suites, an all-suite coastal modern oceanfront hotel.  Situated on the bluffs of Pismo Beach and recently named a Family Vacation Critic Favorite for 2019.  It offers 70 spacious, comfortable and newly remodeled suites with two bathrooms each. You can even bring your family dog!

We stayed in one of their spacious 950 square foot two-room oceanfront suite featuring sweeping ocean views from our private balcony. Our suite offered a king bed in the bedroom, ensuite bath with a soaking tub, guest bathroom with a glass shower.  Plus, a living room with a full size pull out sofa bed, kitchenette and did I mention two bathrooms? This came in super handy after swimming in the pool. The boys were able to take a bath while I showered in the guest bathroom.

Amenities

The hotel is exceptionally family focused, their Steal-A-Robe Package package includes a child sized hooded robe (perfect for drying off after some pool fun) and treats the kiddos to an ice cream treat and dinner at a local pizza parlor! The grounds feature an OCEANFRONT pool (how sweet is that) an open air family play deck. The deck is inviting and loaded with family games like ping pong, mini golf, life size chess and checkers, badminton, a play structure, hop scotch, and more! Plus, it has plenty of seats for gathering and relaxing. It was so nice to sit back and unwind while the boys played. It was even nicer to not have to drive anywhere or try to entertain the boys in the hotel room. The deck was the perfect and most convenient spot to get all the wiggles out.

We also loved the convenience of complimentary parking & complimentary continental breakfast that included the boys’ favorites, waffles & sausage.  My favorite part was drifting off to sleep each night to the waves crashing. The ocean is magic and so good for the soul, right?

Final Thoughts

Pismo Lighthouse Suites is perfect for anyone; this hotel is ideally positioned to enjoy summers in the central coast.  We absolutely loved it! The suites are clean, modern and huge, so perfect when traveling as a family  The location, amenities & value cannot be beat either. We cannot wait to go back!
